Bed bugs (Cimex lectularius): Like to hide in small cracks and crevices close to human environments. They come out at night or in low light for a blood meal. Found in hotels, airplanes, dormitories, movie theaters and homes.
Bees (Xylocopa species): Carpenter Bees are very active in May and June. They look like Bumble Bees but unlike them are solitary bees. They bore holes through soft wood and lay eggs and can damage wood through their nest buliding.

Centipedes: Are reddish brown with hundreds of legs. They live and breed in damp, moist areas like dirt crawl spaces and basements. They can bite if touched or stepped on and invade homes through cracks and crevices. For more information click here. Earwigs (Dermaptera): They hide during the day and feed on leaves, flower, fruits and insects at night. They invade homes through exterior cracks.

Norway Rats (Rattus norvegicus): Live in fields, farm lands and structures. They enter homes looking for food sources. They can chew wiring and cause fires. They also carry diseases.
Oderous House Ants (Tapinoma sessile): They invade homes and nest in cracks, wall voids and attics. They are a real nuisance to homeowners.
Pillbugs (Armadillilium vulgare): They eat decaying vegetable matter and live in moist locations. They will enter structures and become a pest problem; however they will not do structural damage.
Powder Post Beetles (Lyctus brunneus): Attack hardwoods and damage structures throughout the US. Homeowners usually see a very fine powdery dust coming from the wood in their homes.
Skunks (Fissipedia):The striped skunk has very powerful legs and can dig and climb. They will destroy lawns by digging up the grass to get to insects and will nest under structures to breed.
Spiders: There are many different species of spiders and all will invade structures and can become a pest problem. Removing debris around and in homes helps to eliminate spiders.
Squirrels: We have two species of squirrels in Southern New England, the Gray Squirrel and the Red Squirrel. Both will invade homes, chew wiring and destroy wood along the roof lines with their gnawing. Do not block holes in a structure until you're absolutely sure all squirrels have been removed from the building.
